Most teenagers are focused on school, friends, sports, and pop culture for the most part. Until teens hit adulthood and start working to make money and pay their own bills the importance of developing sound financial strategies to become wealthy is not taught. Moreover, most teenagers and even some adults are not quite interested in learning about finance, investing, real estate planning, etc. This can present several challenges as the world becomes more complex and getting wealthy becomes difficult.
Learning about financial strategies, real estate investing, managing debt, etc. from the correct sources is crucial. The internet is full of questionable advice, which makes it very difficult to navigate to the correct information that leads to success. Coupled with this is the lack of financial literacy classes in our education system. This leads to teenagers transitioning into adult lives with abject lack of knowledge about economic systems, wealth building, investing, real estate acquisitions, debt management, etc.
Chad K Smith MBA has written a book aimed at teenagers to teach this very subject. The information packed book guides teens through the world of personal finance and provides valuable lessons on budgeting, investment strategies, and building long term lasting wealth. “The magic of compound interest and time leverage are your secret weapons in achieving financial success,” writes Smith introducing the concept of wealth building from an early age. He breaks down the emotional biases and psychological biases that can lead to irrational financial behavior, and how to prevent falling into this trap. A section on tools for mindful investing is valuable for those beginning their foray into investing.
A complete chapter is dedicated to decrypting cryptocurrencies and how to build wealth through these modern and revolutionary financial instruments. This chapter can be useful to teens with little knowledge about cryptocurrencies as well as adults in the same boat. The chapter on international markets teaches readers about how to navigate the global economy and come out with profits. The book even touches upon sustainability and green investments, advanced real estate leverage strategies; wealth building through diversification; and the final chapter deals with advanced debt management and credit building.
The three page conclusion to the volume summarizes the major concepts and lessons in the book and reinforces the fact that wealth building is long term and one can achieve this with smart discipline, and work ethic. Crypto is the new buzzword among investors, traders, and people trying to get-rich-quick. Some people think it is some kind of high-tech stuff that only engineers, and tech-savvy people can invest and gain from cryptocurrencies. Most people get too intimidated to invest and gain from cryptocurrency investments. The Step-by-Step Cryptocurrency Trading by S. N. Alexander is a detailed book to teach you all about cryptocurrencies, trading, and how to profit from this novel digital investment.
Alexander starts off the 13-chapter book with a brief “Book Description” which essentially gives the reader a sneak peek of the contents of the remaining chapters of the book. These include crypto terminology, investment strategies for both novice and seasoned investors, how to manage your digital wallet, how to transfer cryptocurrencies from wallets to centralized digital exchanges, how to identify and avoid common scams, etc.
The introduction details a short memoir of the author’s tryst with crypto since 2013 and how it can be intimidating/ frustrating to the new investor. This book is Alexander’s effort to educate and demystify various crypto concepts and empower investors with the knowledge to succeed in crypto markets. The stated goal of this book is to “challenge your assumptions, expand your knowledge, and reshape your perspective on money,” writes Alexander.
The chapter that helped me most is the first chapter that deals with cryptocurrency basics. I was hitherto naive and almost ignorant about this subject till I read this chapter. Now I can safely say that I have reasonable knowledge of cryptocurrencies, enough to start a investment account and have a digital wallet. The following chapters deal with how to invest in crypto, buying and selling, sending and receiving, swapping, crypto savings accounts, etc. All the chapters provide tremendous insights into cryptocurrencies in a short, direct, easy-to-understand manner.
The conclusion summarizes the content of the book and helps reiterate the most complex and important concepts on investment and trading in cryptocurrencies.

Essential Money Skills for Ambitious Teens by River Ellington, 152 pp 

Teenagers are at a very important juncture in life – the cusp of adolescence and adulthood. Several lifetime habits, friends, beliefs, practices, etc. are formed at this age. Most teens live with parents, go to school, and hang out with friends, they rarely think of money, savings, etc. Their needs for the most part are taken care of by parents. Despite financial literacy being so vital for a successful, and comfortable life, most of us have had to figure things out via trial and error.

In this scenario comes River Ellington’s latest book on financial literacy, smart saving, and investing titled “Essential Money Skills for Ambitious Teens.” Spanning over 150 pages this book introduces the world of money, savings, investments, and other life skills to teens. Introducing the need for this book Ellington writes: “Most teens don’t think much about money until they don’t have enough of it. Whether it’s wanting the latest shoes, saving for a car, or dreaming about financial independence, money plays a huge role in shaping the life you want. Yet, schools rarely teach real-world financial skills, leaving many young adults to figure things out through trial and error.”

Divided into nine easy to read chapters, the book also gives some bonus information and benefits including: a. Teen money toolkit; b. Side hustle starter pack; c. Money mindset makeover workbook; and d. Scam safe teen cheat sheet. These digital resources are free and beneficial for the teens starting their journey into adult life of earning money, paying bills and managing finances.

Essential Money Skills for Ambitious Teens lists eight habits – a chapter dedicated to each that would transform a naïve teen into a financial savvy young adult. Starting off with a chapter on “Shift your money mindset,” the book delves into “Pay yourself first,” followed by sections on budgeting and spending wisely, aligning with values, monetizing skills, among others. Concluding with a two page epilogue the book reinstates the eight habits of financial savvy children and provides a 3-year plan to implement the habits and strategies in this book.

I think this book is a must read for teenagers heading to college, being out of the security of home first time in their lives, as also to parents of teenagers, and anyone that is starting out on their financial independence journey.

Beginners are scared to get into financial markets due to this uncertainty. Even experienced traders are finding it challenging to turn profit consistently.

The Candlestick Trading Bible is a great guide for beginners to establish a structured approach to analyzing the markets, navigating financial markets successfully, avoid costly mistakes, build strong financial portfolio, develop a strategy, to achieve consistent profitability. The 184 page book is divided into five sections/ books each with different chapters dealing with different approaches and strategies aimed at helping the reader succeed in the market.

The chapter on foundations of candlestick trading explains the origins, importance, and how to identify patterns. "Visualize a bustling marketplace teeming with traders who exchange tales of triumph, caution, and invaluable lessons learned. The language spoken in this arena is one of discipline, precision, and insight," writes Lynch explaining the foundations of candlestick trading. Different candlestick patterns including Doji, Hammer, shooting star, engulfing patterns, etc are explained in detail in this chapter. 

As we progress into the book Lynch explains more advanced concepts of candlestick trading such as Bullish and Bearish engulfing, how to read market momentum, and finally explaining how to master the psychology of trading. How to deal with emotions that engulf the trader during times of market upheavals. How to overcome psychological trading pitfalls is an interesting chapter that helps even seasoned traders improve and succeed in this psychological game of financial trading.

In the final conclusion chapter Lynch reemphasized the importance of "consistent application" of candle strategies and techniques to attain success. There is also a important tips on how to acknowledge and overcome psychological battles that accompanies trading.

Overall I feel that this book is a great tool for beginner traders with its great tips and tricks on successful trading.
